Far From the Heart is an interactive forum theatre presentation that starts conversations about dating abuse and sexual violence prevention. Originally developed in 2006 as a collaboration between Grey Bruce teens and local artists, the play has since toured eight times in two provinces, been translated into French, and adapted to an interactive film. Join us as we kick off our 2017 tour in our hometown on Friday, September 22 at the Harmony Centre at 7 p.m.

The show follows four teen characters on the night of a big party as they struggle with personal expectations, peer pressure, and relationships. Felicity finds herself pressured by her friend, controlled by her boyfriend, and assaulted by the guy she thought wanted to help her. After you've seen the story play out, we revisit key scenes and get the audience to intervene and change the outcome. Together we explore the issues that lead to dating abuse and sexual violence and talk about ways that we can encourage helthy relationships instead.

We'll also have some music from Missy Bauman to start the evening off.

The presentation is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
Suggested donation $15 for adults, students are free. No one will be turned away because of funds.
