Rogers

The local Rogers customer received a reply when they wrote with a concern about this new agreement:

"By using the [Rogers email] services you agree that you have obtained the consent of your friends and contacts to provide their personal information (for example: their email address or telephone number) to Oath or a third party, as applicable, and that Oath or a third party may use your name to send messages on your behalf to make the services available to your friends and contacts.”

Reply from Rogers:

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence, my name is Carrie with the Rogers Management Office in Kitchener. We have reviewed your concern and certainly appreciate you taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention.

Rogers does not own its own email server, we use Yahoo's server to provide Rogers internet customers with free Rogers.com email addresses. With that said I understand your concern is with their recent changes to their terms of service. Like most email providers, Yahoo! scans emails for viruses, malware, spam, phishing links, etc. to improve its quality of services. This is all done automatically by computer programs, so emails aren't actually read by Yahoo! employees.

Users can make changes to their Yahoo account and control their
preferences at any time by visiting their customer preferences page. These can be accessed by logging into webmail, clicking the Gear icon -> Privacy -> Privacy Policy of Yahoo/Oath -> Controls.

As for using your email without accepting the new terms of service, you can continue to access your email but will receive reminders to agree to the new terms of service and privacy policy. You will need to scroll to the bottom of the message and click I'll do this Later. This will prevent the pop up from appearing on that computer or device for 1 month.

Note: You will need to accept the cookie on your computer so your system remembers your choice of postponing the reminder. Also, if you access your email on another device or computer, follow the same steps on each device to postpone the pop-up.

I hope that this information helps to provide resolution to your
concerns, however if you require additional assistance please do not hesitate to contact Customer Care at 1-888-764-3771 or via Live Chat at www.rogershelp.com/chat Monday to Friday from 7AM until Midnight EST, Saturday and Sunday from 8AM until Midnight EST, or reply back to this e-mail.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you,
Carrie S.
