tire winter opp fullOn Friday afternoon, February 8, 2019, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police investigated multiple motor vehicle collisions. Motorists were urged to avoid any unnecessary travel due to the poor weather and road conditions. Several roads were closed.

Between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., on February 8th, Grey County OPP responded to 15 motor vehicle collisions. Of those collisions, three involved multiple vehicles, one involved a tractor trailer, and another collision involved an ambulance responding to a call. There were injuries reported but none were considered life threatening.

During severe weather events, motorists are reminded to monitor the media outlets for updates, including road closures. Motorists are also reminded that driving on a closed road is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act. Doing so puts you and your passengers at risk and it puts police and all Emergency Responders at risk who come to your aid.

Let's do better next time by avoiding any unnecessary travel during severe winter storm events.
