ice thawIce conditions can change dramatically and with spring-like temperatures arriving soon rain and melting snow will cause the break-up of ice causing hazardous conditions along watercourses. These conditions may be life-threatening should a person fall into extremely cold water.

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police remind everyone to be careful and use caution near waterways, lakes, ponds and ditches this time of year.

With students off from school on March Break, it's important to supervise children and help them understand the dangers of playing near creeks, streams and ponds.

Outdoor enthusiasts such as snowmobilers, anglers and hikers also need to be aware of potentially dangerous conditions that could be a risk to their personal safety.

As we look forward to warmer temperatures - let's be safe!
