 Owen Sound Girls Field Lacrosse Weekly Report

The Owen Sound U19 Creative Playgrounds women’s field lacrosse team faced Orangeville in JEWL division play on Friday night.

The North Stars found themselves down 3-0 in the first five minutes of play but quickly turned things around following a time out called by head coach Lyndsay Brooks.

At halftime the North Stars led by a single goal and managed to expand their lead to take Orangeville by a final score of 13-8.

Scoring for Owen Sound was Jill Goldie with six goals, Dani Strong and Brooklyn Doyle each had two while Courtney Scott and Karly and Cassidy Low netted one each.

The team travels to Hill Academy on Wednesday, June 28, to face the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks.

It was another busy weekend for the Owen Sound North Stars rep womens field lacrosse as the Owen Sound U19 Krueger Steel team travelled to Toronto for week four of action in the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse league.

Saturday morning, North Stars U19 fought hard but, were defeated by Halton Hills 13-3. Goals scored by Ryann Seaman and Aliviah McCall.

The second game was against St. Catharines

Owen Sound played hard, but lost 17-5.

Goals scored by Ryann Seaman and Aliviah McCall. Goalie Mykah Harris played two fantastic games, and stopped key shots in important moments.

Owen Sound will return to action on July 8 when they travel to Kawartha.

The Owen Sound U15A Fire Fighters North Stars traveled to Toronto Saturday for their fourth weekend of lacrosse action.

Game one saw the North Stars face the number four ranked Toronto Beaches. Despite a hard effort and tight first half, the girls ultimately fell 11-4.

Goal scorers for Owen Sound were Danielle Brown, Ella Todd, Leah Cooper and Sarah Barfoot.

The second game saw a balanced scoring attack which resulted in a 13-5 victory over Oakville.

Scoring two goals each for the North Stars were Scarlett Stevenson, Leah Cooper, London Doyle, and Sarah Barfoot, while Camryn Laycock, Taryn Weppler, Danielle Brown, Ella Todd and Rory Jex all added singles.

A good team effort on defense and several great saves by Marley Woodhouse ensured a comfortable lead throughout the game.

The team returns to action in Peterborough in two weeks with games against Six Nations and the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks.

n their first game against KW2 the North Stars jumped out to a quick lead but KW2 clawed their way back to within one goal.

The North Stars rallied as a team and finished the game strong with a 9-5 win.

Leah Sundermeirer was our lead scorer with 3 goals, Jenna Cranny, Noellle Brewster and Charlotte Fox scored two goals each.

In their second game the North Stars played against Orillia and lost 13-4.

Jenna Cranny netted 2 goals and Caitlyn Tran and Noelle Brewster had singles.

The team is looking forward to their long weekend off and will play again in Kawartha on Saturday, July 8.

The Owen Sound U13 Legacy Ridge Golf Club squad travelled to Acton to see their first match up against Halton Hills.

The girls continue to battle this season but fell short 13-3.

Goals by McKenna Ward, Ella Todd and Avery Thompson.

As the heat wore on through the day, the girls had a tough battle against Oakville. They lost 9-1.

Goal scored by Scarlett Stevenson, assisted by Hailey Frede.

The girls will have Canada Day weekend off and head to Peterborough on July 9.

The Owen Sound U11A Ron Hopper Real Estate girl’s field lacrosse team travelled to Sunnybrook Park in Toronto for two regular season games.

The hot weather didn't stop the girls from securing two big wins.

The first game against Orillia saw an 18-7 win with goals by Lyla Doyle (4), Quinn Norton (4), Keeva Fox (3), Adele Ferguson (2), Atayvia Jackson (2), Tessa Matheson (2), and Sophie Burnett-Scott (1).

The girls faced Oshawa in their second game and played extremely well with a 19-7 final.

Goals by Quinn (8), Adele (4), Keeva (3), Hanna Carr (2), Atayvia (1), and Lyla (1).

A big shout out to goalie Isla Nickel who played incredible!

The girls will be off for Canada Day weekend and will resume play in Kawartha on July 9.

The Owen Sound U9 Berner Contracting girls played two games in Toronto this Sunday.

Despite the heat, the girls fought hard, but lost against Toronto Beaches with a score of 16-9.

Goals came in from Faye Burnett-Scott (3), Clara Patterson (3), Evelyn Scholl (1), Jackie Seaman (1) and Shantae (Tae) Wilson (1).

In game two, the girls pushed on but lost against Orangeville 15-7 with goals from Evelyn Scholl (2), Tae Wilson (1), Olivia Barfoot (1), Clara Patterson (1), Meyer Quaid (1), and Agnes Stephen (1).

The girls are in action again on July 23 in Orillia.
