On the weekend we got ice cream at the Big Bay store and walked down to the end of the government dock. Walking back but still on the dock and hearing a roar, the four of us including our six year old grandson, had to jump out of the way of an ATV that came speeding out onto the pier (where vehicles are banned). Monika Brauer, founder of the recently formed Neighbours Against Drugs and Crime Action Group, has spent another busy weekend.
The Owen Sound Police (OSPS) were back in her 11th St and 3rd Ave East neighbourhood – this time for a reported stabbing. Her petition requesting city attention to the risks in the neighbourhood, and the group's Facebook page are gaining support.

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library has installed a stained glass artwork in the Youth Services Department in memory of our friend and colleague Joan Wyatt (1953-2014). Joan's dedication to the public library, her love of children's literature and ability to connect kids with just the right book, was a staple of this library for over two decades.

While working at a short-term temporary job as an enumerator with the 2016 census, Monika Bruaer broke her foot – she heard it crack. She'd stepped in an overgrown hole in a lawn where there was no front walk – ironically, the hole left when a landlord removed a hedge that the City deemed a problem....
