Come, celebrate, and say Goodbye to the Old Courthouse. On Sunday, June 21st, from 11AM to 4PM, some of the studios will be open with art, books, and art supplies for sale. Take a look inside this grand old building, perhaps for the last time! Patti Waterfield and Heather Murray are organizing this event and at present the plan also includes having a few musicians on hand to offer some ambiance and entertainment.
The old Owen Sound court house has had a storied past. The one time Grey County building has housed Police headquarters, and been home to both the local Arts Council and the Georgian Bay Folk Society. It has also been studios for various artists.
But all that is coming to an end. The city has sold the building along with the jail behind and the accompanying grounds, to Southbridge Healthcare. The company's plans are for a new long-term care facility, seniors services and administrative offices.
Many Owen Sound residents had prided themselves on managing to conduct their affairs above the law and thereby keep themselves out of the old Court and former city jail. Now it seems there is a chance they may only have...

Michael is the former Editor of the Owen Sound Sun Times, a political columnist with the National Post and Postmedia, and his columns are syndicated in more than 40 daily newspapers across Canada, including the Sun Times.
The free event will take place at 2:00 PM at the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library and will be followed by a question and answer period.
Hosted by the Grey Bruce Humanists.
Hide and seek with the voters...Editor:
Both Mr Miller and his boss, Mr Harper, are playing hide and seek with the voters in the most important election since the free trade debate of 1988. The issues, and the decisions facing voters, couldn't be more stark.
Are we to go down the path of the USA, switching between one grand old party and the next and subject ourselves to 5 more years of Parliamentary gridlock? Are we, at last, going to attend to poverty and the inequality that drives it and do something about it? Are we going to
The following letter was written May 15 by MP Larry Miller to Peace and Justice Grey Bruce in response to their query.

Peace and Justice Grey Bruce
Dear Sir or Madam:
Thank you for your recent correspondence with regards to the missing persons' and murder investigation of Delores Brower.
In a letter to the Sun Times June 13th, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller stated he would not attend all candidates meetings during this election. He said they are "obsolete" because they draw only people who have already made up their minds. That cannot be true of the Chamber of Commerce debate because it is also broadcast on Rogers community television. Mr Miller has nevertheless declined to attend that meeting.
Mr Miller said in his letter, "Any meetings that involve direct, one-on-one participation with the voter would be a very suitable format." That is exactly the format of the meeting on Proportional Representation that will be held at the Owen Sound Public Library on June 18, starting at 7:00 pm. But, we understand Mr Miller has declined to attend that discussion as well.
