With regard to the recent federal court decision concerning the wearing of the niqab during the Canadian citizenship oath, Minister Alexander has stated "The government of Canada will seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada in the Ishaq case."
I support this position. If you would like further information on the government position, please contact the office of Minister Alexander.
Thank you.

Face Coverings are not a security issue. If we cannot adapt to the idea that woman have and are entitled to their own comfort associated with their own bodies then our belief system is a myth- because it can't respect a woman's differences in intimacy, out of another culture, in this case associated with her face. We are based on cultural tolerance, and our survival has been based on removing the need of assimilation under the fantasy of a so called 'national purity'. Insecurity causes impatience, and if we are impatient with women from elsewhere, we will do nothing but inspire bitterness for being Canadian, inspire insecurity at being Canadian, while they must take their time, as our new country-folk to ascertain their own level of comfort, with what can be, for someone who is not used to the so many options of expression Canada has, overwhelming. Give them time to understand themselves as they do, and they will most excellently use the time, as mature humans who understand themselves maturely, to make the best decisions for their comfort, and people being allowed to do that, simply spreads comfort to all persons. It's important to understand that women who wear face coverings are born Canadians,
The Postmedia Network's Opinion as published in The Sun Times on September 28th is that women who wear niqabs should be required to show their faces when taking the oath of citizenship in Canada. This opinion is largely based on polls showing that a majority of Canadians support this requirement. I am sure that at one time there were polls opposing same-sex marriage. Thank God that the Supreme Court does not base its rulings on polls. The second leg their opinion stands on is that "it is not in our tradition". When there is no logical argument against something people say things like, "We are going to do it this way because that's the way we've always done it. It's a tradition." The Postmedia Network Opinion has no reasonable basis in MY opinion.
The City of Owen Sound is seeking the public's assistance in determining the source of a large volume of water usage.
The City's water control system has detected several high flow events; twice on September 10th, twice on September 11th, six times on September 15th, and three times on September 22. The water usage lasts only for 1 to 3 minutes, but the flow rate is equal to many hundreds of gallons a minute; comparable to what would be seen from a flowing fire hydrant.
The events occurred in the southeast corner of the City in the area south of 10th Street East and east of 8th Avenue East. Patrols of the area during, and after the events turned up no evidence of public hydrant usage. The likely source is
