fire-chat-regMEAFORD - On Friday, January 30, 2015, Grey County OPP were called to investigate a structure fire which had been discovered on 8 Concession N. in the Municipality of Meaford at approximately 6:00 p.m. that evening.

Grey County OPP is assisting the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office (OFM) in what is believed to be a fire-related death investigation after human remains were located at the scene.

disaster-regTIVERTON - Bruce Power and a coalition of agencies and municipalities with an interest in public safety have launched a new website to provide residents of Grey, Bruce and Huron counties with the information they need to prepare for emergencies.

The website, www.bepreparedgreybrucehuron.com, is an educational resource for the different types of emergencies all residents should be prepared for, and provides tips on what to do in the event of a fire, flood, tornado, winter storm or nuclear emergency.

bruce-regTIVERTON - Bruce Power will appear at a public hearing before Canada's nuclear regulator on Thursday, as part of its five-year relicensing process. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission hearing will be webcast and then archived for 90 days at www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca.

The second part of the hearings will be April 14-16 at the Kincardine Legion. The public is encouraged to participate in the three-day hearing, whether through a written or oral submission to the panel.

"Public support and engagement has always been a key component to Bruce Power's success and one we never take for granted," said James Scongack, Vice President, Corporate Affairs. "We encourage people to get involved in the process and have their say."

stolen-art-regOfficers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a theft in Collingwood and are asking for the public's help in solving this crime.

The theft took place sometime over the holiday season in December/January 2014 at the Tremont Art Gallery on Simcoe Street in Collingwood. The painting is described as oil on canvas painting of a summer scene in an orchard, 20"x24" in a natural colour box frame.
