The Owen Sound Attack enter the final weekend of the regular season with a chance to clinch home ice for the first round of the playoffs. With games against the Guelph Storm on Friday and then against the Sarnia Sting on Saturday, a pair of wins could mean the Attack will be at home for games one and two of the playoffs.
Owen Sound enters the weekend in 4th place, just three points back of Guelph, who they take on at 7:30 pm at the Sleeman Centre on Friday. A weekend sweep for the Attack, and a Storm loss on Sunday would mean the Attack clinch 4th place in the conference. But first they have to get through Guelph, who only needs one point to secure home ice.

In recent days, fans of the Ontario Hockey League have watched with interest as three of the teams in the league have changed ownership, with two of those franchises announcing a plan to relocate. First the Plymouth Whalers were purchased and plans were made to play in Flint, Michigan next season, then the Sarnia Sting announced new ownership with the plan to stay in Sarnia. Last Thursday, the league announced that the Belleville franchise had been purchased by a gentleman in Hamilton and the "Bulls" would begin a new chapter of the team's life in the "Steel City". These news stories have made some of the fans of the Owen Sound Attack nervous about the fate of their team and we are seeing concerns voiced through the internet, Twitter and other social mediums. It is in response to these comments that I am writing to you to dispel those concerns.

A tired Owen Sound Attack team couldn't outrun the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Sunday, losing 1-0 in the last of a trio of tough weekend games.
Attack goalie Jack Flinn was steady in net, stopping 42 shots, but his teammates could only muster 17 shots on Greyhounds goalie Brandon Halverson. The play was overwhelmingly in the Owen Sound end all afternoon, with the Attack fumbling at times to get the puck out and producing turnovers. A third period energy surge by the Attack was cut short by penalty trouble as the game turned chippy.
The Owen Sound Attack kick off a three in three weekend with a potential playoff opponent when they head to Guelph to take on the Storm on Friday, Mar. 6.
After a 5-1 victory over the Peterborough Petes on Tuesday night that clinched a playoff berth, the Attack now sit just three points back of Guelph with two games in hand for 4th place in the Western Conference.
Friday night's match up pits the 5th place Attack (30-20-2-7, 69 points) against the Storm (34-23-2-2, 72 points) in what is looking to be a preview of the 1st round of the Western Conference Playoffs. Owen Sound and Guelph will meet once more before the regular season ends, with the Attack's penultimate game coming against their Highway 6 rivals. The Attack enter Friday night's game having won seven of their last 10 games while the Storm have won six of their previous 10 games.
