The United Way of Bruce Grey is releasing their numbers for the first 4 months of the new reporting year for its Utility Assistance Program. The United Way switched to reporting on a July to June format to more accurately capture the impact of a single winter.
From July 1st to November 30th the United Way has provided almost $105 000 in support to over 355 people, 266 requests.

The Community Waterfront Heritage Centre (CWHC) is excited to announce the next phase of fundraising, and restoration, which includes the purchase of windows, to remove condensation, protect the 1953 Dining Car from damaging water leaks and provide additional insulation.
CWHC is asking for community support and donations can be made in honour, or memory of a loved one, or by individual and business sponsorship. A donation of $100 or more will be commemorated on a plaque aboard the Dining Car. The goal of the campaign is to raise a minimum of $17000.00.
The City of Owen Sound Public Works Department will be making changes to the winter maintenance procedures for the 2015/2016 winter season. The changes will provide cost savings to the City and greater efficiency for winter maintenance during the daytime hours. The changes are as follows:
Shifts Changes:
· Reduction from three shifts to two shifts; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to Midnight
· 24 hour coverage will be provided when conditions warrant by extending shifts
· Night patrolman will be on duty through night hours, and will keep at least one lane open in each direction on the arterials

Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter in praise of a local food producer, the Miner family of Kemble. They are easily found at the Owen Sound Farmers' Market on Saturdays with their gorgeous bottles of maple syrup, inside, surrounded by the the seductive aroma of freshly baked breads. A few years ago as a newcomer I purchased their granulated maple sugar, Hot Maple Curry and used it on everything, vegetables, soups, meats but let me share my favourite:
Slather butter on naan bread (available across the aisle at the Market)
Sprinkle maple curry sugar generously....
