It is that time of year again! Grey Bruce has had approximately 50 cases of laboratory confirmed influenza since the start of the year, most over the past 2 weeks. As well, reports of other respiratory illnesses are circulating in the region.
Public Health would like to remind everyone there are several things that can be done to protect yourself and others from respiratory illnesses:
· Get the flu shot – it is still available at many pharmacies throughout the region.
· Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based sanitizer. The influenza virus can survive on unwashed hands for 5 minutes, on tissues or clothing for 8-10 hours and on hard surfaces such as...
