The City of Owen Sound invites the community to show their appreciation for local culture by submitting a nomination for the 9th Annual Owen Sound Cultural Awards. The nomination deadline is December 8, 2017. Consider making a nomination for your favourite artist, event, or organization for one of eight awards, to be presented at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre on February 11, 2018.The Cultural Awards celebrate and highlight individuals, groups and events who make admirable contributions to the area's cultural vitality. An impaired driver was stopped thanks to a passenger.
On October 29, 2017 at approximately 10:20 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police received a traffic complaint after a male passenger inside a Dodge Caravan attempted to hand an open beer through the window to another driver on Hwy. 6 in Springmount in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
Police stopped the suspect vehicle on Hwy. 6 & 10 near Sunny Valley Road at which time they observed the front passenger move to the back seat.

The report to Monday's City Council meeting by Tom Thomson Art Gallery Board Chair Linda Myles-Gallinger was brief. Bad news doesn't need embellishment.
The Gallery is running a deficit for the second year in a row. Last year it was approximately $85,000. This year the amount is still unknown, but Owen Sound's Corporate Services Director Kate Allan has called it "significant".
