Student leaders from both Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute (OSCVI) and West Hill Secondary School (WHSS) joined forces on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre (BOEC) near Wiarton for a Link Crew training event. Seventy students participated in team-building and training activities that will prepare them to welcome incoming grade 9 students to the newly combined secondary school in Owen Sound in September 2016.

Grey Roots Museum and Archives is hosting a brand new event on Sunday, June 12 from noon to 5 PM. Saints & Sinners Taste of the Trail is a chance to taste great beer, wine and cider while enjoying delicious food and live entertainment in the Moreston Heritage Village. Thirteen members of the Saints & Sinners Trail are participating. Ticket prices - $20 in advance (includes five sample drink tickets), $10 for designated drivers, $25 at the door on June 12; $15 at the door for designated drivers.

In 1997, the provincial government developed a funding formula for education. Before 1997, kindergarten to grade 12 education was paid for through a combination of provincial funding and funding from local property taxes. When education was funded through local property taxes and school boards were able to decide on tax rates for education, boards with a "richer" tax base (e.g. larger urban centres) had much more money to spend on education than boards with a very small tax base.
