soldiers-of-soilOne hundred years ago, over 4000 men and women of Grey County answered the call to serve their country during the Great War. Author George Auer, who formerly served with the Princess Pats and the Grey & Simcoe Foresters, has spent more than ten years researching their history.

His new book, Soldiers of the Soil: Grey County Goes to War, 1914 - 1918, provides a readable account of what was happening at home and abroad during those years with archival photographs and maps. Also included is a complete list of the war memorials and cenotaphs in Grey County, the war medals which were presented to Grey County soldiers, and the most complete Grey County Great War Honour Roll ever published, with the names of over 4000 soldiers.

The Georgian Bay Folk Society has confirmed that James Keelaghan will continue as Artistic Director for the 2016 and 2017 Summerfolk Music and Craft Festivals. Keelaghan's musical career has spanned more than 25 years and a dozen albums, included many performances at Summerfolk, and earned him international acclaim – including a Juno award.
