HoHo cast pictureSince 2007 Hanover Community Players has produced a family show in December. Typically this would have a large cast of kids and adults drawn from the surrounding area. This year, of course, our theatre is closed due to Covid-19. Undaunted by this we are determined to continue our tradition and are performing a unique production live via Zoom.

This has not been without challenges as auditions, rehearsals, costumes, props and set designs (backgrounds) have all been performed from individual homes without personal contact. The final live productions will be performed the same way. It does, however, offer some quirky advantages. For example 2 of the 15 cast members are not local but participating from Sudbury and Guelph! It also allows us to invite a much wider audience to view the show.

And so we are inviting your family to Ho, Ho, Ho! The North Pole Chronicles on Friday, December 11th and Saturday, December 12th at 7:00 pm. This special online show reveals many behind-the-scenes secrets about Santa's operations at the North Pole. It starts with a press conference to answer the press's questions about the jolly guy, and then we meet the elves who care for the reindeer and yet more elves who work the gift suggestion hotline. But the biggest mystery is where Mrs. Claus has disappeared to. Find out in a surprising ending that will leave a smile on everyone's face.

The production is free to watch although people will have to register so that the special link can be sent to them via email. Patrons will also receive a digital copy of the show program, outlining the backgrounds of everyone involved, just like HCP offers with live shows in the theatre.

Registration is now available via the website: HanoverCommunityPlayers.ca.

HCP is hoping that patrons will be kind enough to make a donation after watching the show. This will enable them to recover costs of the production and will go towards a future show, perhaps in the spring. Donations of $10.00 or more will receive a tax receipt.

It will be different, but that's what theatre is all about – meeting the challenges of the day and going forward, offering all that are involved a unique learning experience. We hope your family will join us and feel free to extend this invitation to distant friends and family.
