Meaford-Hall-fullMeaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre presents over 20 live shows, two film series plus new gallery exhibits, speaker series and more for fall/early winter 2015. With so many events right here in Meaford arts patrons don't have to drive far to expand their cultural palette and find quality entertainment.

The season kicks off in September with something for the younger generation: Tyler Shaw plays Meaford, bringing his signature brand of rock-tinged pop. Next up is Whiskey Jack: the Stories and Songs of Stompin' Tom, East-cost legends The Barra MacNeils, and That's the Way it Was: tribute to Tom Jones & Elvis. The Toronto Concert Orchestra featuring Heather Bambrick and conducted by Maestro Kerry Stratton is next as Meaford Hall partners with the Blue Mountain Village Association in presenting 'Classical Sundays.' And to push the theatrical boundaries is Fresh From the Fringe: two evenings of entertaining and thought provoking theatre straight from the Montreal and Toronto Fringe Festivals featuring three productions: Shevil, Little Miss Understood and Paleoncology. On Culture Days weekend see folk singer-songwriter Craig Cardiff live onstage, and for those looking to learn - attend a free workshop hosted by the talented Craig Cardiff! Returning for the fall is the popular 'Thursday Flicks' series, featuring award-winning films sourced through TIFF Film Circuit. Another popular series beginning in September is Transition Meaford's Films for Thought series: 'Together, for a liveable future on a changing planet.'

With the cooler temperatures comes a thought-provoking 'Speaker Series,' including presentations by the Bluewater Astronomical Society, local historian Marjorie Davison, a talk about British Home Children and local researcher and author Robert Burcher. The 'Speaker Series' is open to all, admission is by donation.

October features The Lost Fingers: remarkable musicianship, heavenly vocals and creative arrangements in a Django gypsy jazz style with a hint of bluegrass, followed by the popular Meaford Chamber presentation of Dragons' Den Meaford – featuring over $160,000 in cash and in-kind prizes in its six-year history.

November begins with two performances of Meaford Community Theatre's Music & War, followed by Dan Needles Letter From Wingfield Farm starring Rod Beattie. Don't miss the Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation's Annual Fundraiser including a fabulous silent auction and show featuring The Sinatra Songbook. To complete November - the award-winning singing impressionist Andre-Philippe Gagnon graces the stage, here for one night only!

With December comes 'Kids in the Meaford Hall's' presentation of Aladdin & the Wonderful Lamp, followed by an anniversary screening of One Magic Christmas and keeping in the holiday spirit see famous ballet 'The Nutcracker' as performed by the talented dancers at Fleet-wood Dance Centre. Finally, indulge in the fairy tale pantomime of Cinderella, presented by Sandcastle Theatre performing arts students.

As 2015 comes to a close ring in the New Year in the historic Galleries at Meaford Hall! Join with friends and family to enjoy a fabulous three-course dinner catered by Christine Collins...begin the evening with cocktails and end with dj dancing and celebration. A truly lovely way to encourage a great start for 2016.

Welcome 2016 with a great show: at the nexus of jazz, blues and rock lies Steely Dan, the musicians' band. Pretzel Logic is a ten-piece band dedicated to the exploration and rendition of the music of Steely Dan. What began as a labour of love continues as such...don't miss this great show at the beginning of a new year!

Remember to stop by The Galleries at Meaford Hall on your next visit. The Meaford Creative Arts Association presents their highly-popular Annual Show and Sale mid-September until early November. Following that the Galleries are decorated in a festive holiday spirit. January and February features Holger Majorahn & Jennifer Stenberg with: We Came. We Saw. We Painted. A retrospective of a coast-to-coast painting journey - from flora to fauna, urban and rural scapes – all are captured on canvas.

Meaford Hall is the Premiere Arts & Cultural Centre in Southern Georgian Bay: beautifully restored and renovated, the Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre doors are open seven days-a-week in historic downtown Meaford. Meaford Hall is a stone's throw from Georgian Bay and adjacent to all amenities in an area well-known for its year-round attractions.
