When Rob Tite is not working full time for a local baker, he may be giving a clarinet lesson, rehearsing with the Georgian Bay Symphony, leading or singing with a barbershop or concert choir or performing solo in a fundraiser for a good cause.
Like most of our gifted local musicians, Rob started young, and he recognizes how much he benefitted from music training in the public school system, the encouragement of his family, and the support of a community of talented and generous musicians.
The desire to spread that joy and share the same musical experience with another generation led him to begin the Great Lake Winds, an all-ages community concert band of woodwinds, brass and percussion.
The Great Lake Winds rehearse on Saturday mornings at Central Westside United Church in Owen Sound, and offer two concerts a year. Fees are only $50 per term and no one will be turned away if the money is a problem. Instruments can be provided if members do not have their own, and include trumpets, saxophones, clarinets, flutes, trombones and drums, and this year...a tuba. Music includes classical, seasonal, jazz, big band and popular pieces.
Registration and first rehearsal is at Central Westside on Saturday, September 12 at 10 a.m.  More information is on Facebook or you can contact Rob at 372-1566 or [email protected]
