On Saturday May 7th, the Georgian Bay Folk Society is hosting its annual spring tribute concert at the Harmony Centre in Owen Sound, ON. This year's concert honours the music and career of David Bowie with performances by the Krueger Band, Drew McIvor, Sons of Perry, Ben Turcotte & Andrew Nunno, Deanne Hallman with Paul Danard, and Rob Elder. Following the format of last year's Joni Mitchell tribute, each act will bring their own musical twist to a few of David Bowie's best loved songs.
"Bowie had a really diverse career", says Georgian Bay Folk Society President Tyler Beckett. "We've lined up this great collection of musicians to showcase that; they're different ages and play different styles of music but they all know Bowie. This show is going to give the audience a taste of how far reaching Bowie's influence was and continues to be".
The audience is encouraged to sing a long and a prize will be awarded for the best Bowie costume. The show is licensed and open to all ages. Doors open at 7pm and the music begins at 8pm. Visit http://summerfolk.org for more information.
