A magical musical collaboration for a long weekend

The Lifers and Annie Sumi are thrilled to be playing the last show of their Wildflower Tour in Owen Sound at The Bleeding Carrot on Saturday, May 20 at 7 p.m.

Together, this caravan of seven musicians have created a symphony of sound that invites the magic of collaboration and harmony.

Local musician Andrew Nunno will be starting the night off with a silky smooth, ocean breezy set, and Jon Farmer from the Georgian Bay Folk Society will be hosting the show.

The Lifers is a sister-fronted power folk collective from Guelph Ontario. The six-piece straddles tender textures and explosive energy, charming audiences with their unpredictable storytelling and dynamics. Liv and Anita Cazzola's intertwined voices are nested in cello, accordion, upright bass, percussion and guitar.

The Cazzola family built a cottage on Mallory Beach over 10 years ago, and the sisters have drawn a great deal of inspiration from the Bruce Peninsula, weaving the landscape into their storytelling. "We even chose to record our latest album there, so we could immerse ourselves in the nature that inspired its conception. As we embark on our first tour since its release, we felt it necessary to bring the music back to its birthplace to share it with the community we've grown to be a part of (through both our family and our music - we played Summerfolk Festival last year)."

Annie Sumi is an acclaimed, ethereal-folk musician from southern Ontario that breathes the subtleties of the great Canadian Landscape into her songs and stories. Her songs are formed by the quiet musings of passers-by, wind-cast conversations, and open eyes for small wonders.

Andrew Nunno was born and raised in Owen Sound where he first took to the stage at high school coffee houses and talent shows. He became so comfortable making music that he literally moved into his backyard studio. His songs are characterized by dreamy guitar riffs and seductive lyrics that mix yacht rock and lounge crooning with a hint of psychedelia.
