Waterlution, in partnership with Greatness—The Great Lakes Project—annouces THE RIPPLE PROJECT: a collaborative art initiative that celebrates water and the feelings it inspires. Proposed by Artist Julia White , the project kicks off August 11th at the Meaford Farmer's market and continues until August 26th across Owen Sound.

"BE A RIPPLE MAKER! Come out to one of our 'Ripple Maker Sessions' led by Great Art for the Great Lakes (GAGL) artist Juila White and make your creative 'water offering.' We will gather inside the sculptural environment of White's WATER Shadows, an installation of sound sculptures woven out of  steel and bicycle inner tubes that features field recordings of local watery soundscapes. Participants will draw water, make waves, do water doodles, paint ripples and share stories about Great Lake Huron and magnificent Georgian Bay. In this way we will make ripples in our community and our world as we connect to what makes our lake so important to us. White will gather the collective water drawings and synthesize elements of each contribution into one flowing design of laser-cut steel sculptures. The final Water Columns will be housed in the Roxy Theatre, Owen Sound on October 27th, 2017."

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the community to connect with the artist, and play a real role in developing the work alongside their neighbours and the artist guiding the process." – Christopher McLeod, Great Art for Great Lakes Project Lead.

Each community will host public events to introduce their commissioned artist who will collaboratively create a permanent work of art to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. Great Art for Great Lakes is funded through the Canada 150 Fund and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
