The Owen Sound Multicultural Arts & Crafts Collective (OSMACC) will be hosting a Winter Tradition event Saturday, November 25th, 1:30 to 4 in partnership with the Active Lifestyle Senior Centre (ALSC). This event will take place at the ALSC, which is that small building in the east section of the Bayshore parking lot.
There are many lovely and fascinating winter customs across the world, so we thought an event like this would be a nice opportunity to celebrate our local multiculturalism. The first half of the event will be a few members of our community sharing their culture's traditional winter festivals and customs. The second half, we'll set up a number of tables with different traditional crafts to make and foods to discover. There will be no admission fee, and all are welcome to attend.
The OSMACC has organized a few multilingual bookmark making events, the next one happening at the Owen Sound Library, on Wednesday, November 8th from 4 to 6PM. We will be making bookmarks, each one with the word 'HARMONY' written in as many languages as our community members know. Please join us to pick up your own bookmark, or if you're in the mood to craft, join us in making them! All extra bookmarks will be left with the librarians, so if you're unable to join us on November 8th you're welcome to pick up a bookmark at the check-out desk, while supplies last.
Through the month of January, we will be decorating the community glass display case at the Artists' Co-op with locally made, multicultural crafts. Stay tuned for more information with this.
