On the afternoon of December 9th there will be a Family Christmas Concert at East Ridge Community School with no set ticket price. It is a Pay What You Can event. At this time of year there are many demands on a families' budget. The organizers and sponsors have put together a fun hour of seasonal music and more where you choose how much to pay.
There will be some Christmas songs by the Georgian Bay Children's Choir, a dramatic story reading by members of the Owen Sound Little Theatre, a Carol-sing-along with the Georgian Bay Symphony as well as some short selections from their concert later in the evening. And there will be the debut performance of the Owen Sound Youth Orchestra. All put together in a great holiday package.
Before the concert there will be opportunities to meet and take pictures with Sparky the Fire Safety Dog, Smokey the Bear and Blinky from the Festival of Northern Lights. And maybe some other mascots too.
The sponsors: the Rocking Horse, Christy Kelly of Investors Group and the Leflar Foundation, help to cover many of the costs. Without their financial assistance this pay what you can event could not take place.
