Originally published in 1994 and long unavailable, The Bruce Peninsula Explorer is now available in a completely revised and updated edition. Written by local historian and former chief librarian, Andrew Armitage, with a Foreword by award-winning travel consultant Chris Hughes, the new book has been vetted by over two dozen local explorers, who spent the summer revisiting the eight self-guided daytrips on the Bruce Peninsula to document changes which have occurred during the past two decades.
In his Introduction, Armitage writes: "In the half-century since I first visited it, the Bruce Peninsula has been discovered. Did I want to contribute to the crowds? No. The Bruce Peninsula Explorer is designed to get travellers off the main road to discover the history and nature of this remarkable place."
Please join us to celebrate the re-publication of The Bruce Peninsula Explorer at 7:00pm on Thursday December 21 at The Ginger Press in downtown Owen Sound. Autographed copies ($24.95) can be reserved at 376-4233 if you are unable to attend.
