Sheatre hosts a PitchFest to promote community arts for social change.
Local community arts company Sheatre hosts its first Community Arts for Social Change PitchFest on September 16th. Do you have an idea for a project that uses the arts to address a social concern? Or a project that celebrates our community? If so, Sheatre wants to hear from you.
"We invite local artists, social change agents, community-engaged organizations, investors – anyone with an idea for a community arts project that inspires them," says Artistic Director, Joan Chandler. "It's a way to take the pulse of our community, and for people to network to get their ideas off the ground,"
The afternoon event will be co-facilitated by Sheatre's team. There'll be games and refreshments along with the pitches to keep it energized, fresh and fun.
People will have five minutes to present their idea, followed by a brief Q&A. You can pitch one project only. Your projects can be at any stage, any art form. The session will end with time to connect with others who have creative, change-making projects, and potentially find an ally.
Sheatre will look at all of these ideas and consider some to mentor or program. Sheatre Co-Producer david sereda, says "The arts are such a powerful way to bring people together, and stories to life. We want to hear about your great idea – tell us why it matters, why it has to happen, what you will bring to the project and how you are going to do it."
Sheatre will also turn the tables and pitch you their upcoming projects – maybe one is right for you to jump in on?
