There is a new band in town. The Rob’n Hans Band. Founded by keyboardist Rob McLean when he partnered with lead Vocalist Hans Langedyk to create a new band playing classic blues. The original idea was to perform Joe Cocker Leon Russell type material based on their combined strengths of McLean’s raucous piano playing and Langedyk’s soaring vocals.
Langedyk is known as the frontman for Dirty Mac, 1969 Revisited and The Trevor MacKenzie Blues Band. McLean’s has performed with Larry Jensen, Richard Knechtel, The Krueger Band, The Trevor MacKenzie Band and too many others to list. Until recently McLean’s work was mainly on the road and was based in Toronto for many years doing TV and session work.
The other members of the band are Roger Williamson a well-known guitar player and currently the music director for the hugely successful “CASH” – Johnny Cash tribute show. The rhythm section has Johnny Roy on bass and Sam Taylor on drums. The band has features Nolan Murphy and Kaelin Murphy on horns, Justine Farrar and Gillian McManaman on backup vocals. Bob Menzies longtime collaborator of McLean’s will be joining them for two special pieces.
The set list includes many Joe Cocker tunes, Tom Waits, Harry Nilsson and Paul Rodgers material plus many more favourites.
Come out and see them on Valentine’s Day at the Heartwood Concert Hall. Tickets are still, available.
