Come to the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library on Wednesday, April 24, 1:00-2:00 pm to meet local author Lee Johnston and hear about her new book “Damnation Corner”. This murder-mystery novel is set in a fictitious 1903 brothel in Owen Sound and examines the seedy and vibrant history of our “Corkscrew” City.

What does redemption mean to the damned? In 1902, Charlotte Evans is a wealthy, spoiled student at Galt Grammar School in Southwestern Ontario. By 1903, she is an unwed mother living and working in an Owen Sound brothel.

In the dead of night, blood curdling screams lead to murder. Figuring out who stabbed the local minister is the opportunity Charlotte needs to free herself from her degrading new life. But first, she has to save her best friend, a descendant of slaves, from the hangman. Will rescuing him come at the cost of her own life, and that of her baby son?
