On October 3rd The Roxy Theatre is stepping back in time with a Refresh the Roxy fundraising event with a special screening of "Coal Miner’s Daughter”, an Oscar-winning film starring a young Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones, that follows the life of country music legend Loretta Lynn. The night will be full of fun flashbacks — including a short lecture and photo retrospective on the history of the Roxy Theatre as a movie theatre, by Richard Thomas and Jim Algie.

Matt Evans, Executive Director, says “It is not about the movie, although it is a wonderful film, it is about the heritage of the Roxy Theatre and bringing the community together for a fun night to relive past. ”

In 1985 “Coal Miner’s Daughter” was one of the last films to be show at The Roxy/ODEON before it became the home of the Owen Sound Little Theatre.  Share in the nostalgia by sharing photos and memories of the Roxy (Odeon) Movie Theatre or the Alps Restaurant on the Roxy Facebook page. Relive the 1980s with a fun night of history, film and country music.

Proceeds raised from this screening will go towards our Refresh The Roxy campaign.
