In their first ever virtual book event, The Ginger Press will launch These Streets I Know: Life and Music by Larry Jensen at 7:00pm on Thursday May 7. This Facebook Live concert, taking place at Larry’s studio and viewable online at https://www.facebook.com/larryaj, will feature him talking about his life and playing some of his original songs. The book and accompanying CD is available for sale at www.gingerpress.com.

In These Streets I Know, Larry describes growing up in Owen Sound, struggling with addiction and evolving as a musician. The thirteen songs on the CD are linked with various events in his life. Larry describes the relationships between where he was at and how he expressed it at the time through his music. The songs interspersed throughout the book provide a significant retrospective of Larry’s career.

Larry Jensen has been a professional singer-songwriter and music teacher in the Owen Sound area for more than four decades. He was awarded the first Owen Sound Culture Award for Outstanding Achievement and was recently appointed Owen Sound’s co-Poet Laureate (along with Rob Rolfe). Musical superstars Valdy (who says, “Larry is the real deal...he deserves to be heard”) and Coco Love Alcorn, (who says, “Jensen is a songwriter through and through”) agree that Larry’s contribution to the Owen Sound community has been significant. Former chief librarian Andrew Armitage says, “This is one heck of a read. As a local book, I rate it at the top of my list.”
