The newly constructed Harrison Park Tot Lot playground has re-opened to the public. The new playground features accessible amenities, offering a safe and inclusive outdoor recreation space for young children.
Owen Sound’s Recreation, Parks and Facilities Master Plan identifies accessible and affordable recreation opportunities as a priority. The upgrades provide accessibility enhancement in the areas of Mobility, Vision, Hearing, Mental Well-Being and Sensory.
"We are excited to have new accessible equipment installed at Harrison Park. I encourage parents and caregivers to take your children to play at this fun and safe barrier-free playground," says Mayor Ian Boddy.
The Harrison Park Tot Lot is a central and heavily used space for park-goers. The new playground provides for a more modern feel and includes climbers, slides and spinners that support physical activity, intellectual development, social interaction and emotional wellness.
Park users are reminded of COVID-19 safety considerations when using playgrounds and play structures. Maintain physical distancing when possible, wash hands before and after use and consider visiting at off-peak times to avoid congestion.
