final tax notice mail boxAs the final 2020 tax installment due date of December 15 approaches, the City of Owen Sound is providing relief for ratepayers by suspending late-payment penalties until January 15, 2021. The amount of your final installment is indicated on the Final Tax Bill that was mailed to residents at the end of June.

Earlier this year, the City of Owen Sound assisted ratepayers in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic by deferring both installment due dates for final property tax payments. The first final property tax installment due date was extended from June 30 to September 30 and the second final property tax installment due date was extended from September 30 to December 15. Late payment penalties were suspended until July 1.

Property taxes are levied and collected by the City to allow for the City, the County of Grey, and all School Boards to deliver services to property owners within the City of Owen Sound.

There are several payment options available to ratepayers, including in person at City Hall, mailing a cheque, using the drop-box located at the front door of City Hall, at your bank, or through online banking. Please do not send cash through the mail or pay by cash if using the drop-box.

For property owners on a monthly pre-authorized payment plan, your plan will continue as normal. For property owners on the installment due date pre-authorized payment plan, your final installment amount will be withdrawn on December 15.
