The 10th St bridge project has reached another milestone as the bridge is now nearing completion. The first layer of asphalt is now complete. The 10th St. west roadway received the first asphalt layer, as well as the 1st Ave intersection at the bridge.
This now completes the first layer of asphalt on rebuilding the roadway with the new water and sewer pipes installed earlier, another big segment in the total bridge project.
The landscape paving stone work is now complete at the south east corner on 1st Ave. east near the bridge. The new bridge railings on the south side of the bridge have been installed and are complementary with the stone and concrete columns. The paving stone work on north east corner of 1st Ave. east at the bridge has been completed. There are some bridge railings left to install to finish off the corner.
You will notice many of the wooden rafts used near and under the bridge are now piled on the extra wide sidewalk on the north side of the bridge. The harbor views on both the east and west side of the bridge show the new bridge railings attached to the stone and concrete columns.
The 10th St. west intersection now has it's new concrete curbing and paving stone landscaping done including the sidewalk near the retaining wall. The asphalt layer gives a new look to the corner, another stage in the bridge project.
The view from 10th St west looking east is a welcome sight, as you view an asphalt roadway over the bridge to our main street and up the east hill. The Seldon Hotel of 1887 is the Iconic landmark that has been overlooking the main street intersection of Owen Sound for the last 133 years.
The south west corner on 1st Ave east has new curbs and paving stones with a new sidewalk to be installed. The bridge crews have been levelling out the area for the work to proceed.
The view overlooking the Sydenham River and the harbor area from 1st Ave west has new landmark, a beautiful architectural bridge and finished with beautiful concrete and stone bridge columns and with the metal railings now in place. The Sydenham River view of the new 10th St. bridge precinct area is a beautiful sight to see, and be able to see in the camera's viewfinder.
Another photo chapter of the 10th St bridge ends.
The photos are for everyone who enjoys the photo moments of this bridge construction event, sharing with you, also with historians, and with my friends.
