Screened compost is now available free of charge for residents of the City of Owen Sound.

The City has contracted Schwartz Construction to screen the compost, and once they have finished the contract in one to two weeks, there will be no more screening this year. City efforts for the remainder of the season will focus on removing some of the accumulated lumber and debris from the site.

Residents are only permitted to load the finished compost by hand. No private mechanical loaders or tractors are permitted on site due to safety and insurance considerations. The site is open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. Please remember to be courteous in your quest for the “black gold”.  For further information please see the City website at:  https://www.owensound.ca/composting.
