Effective Wednesday, September 22, photo ID and  proof of being fully vaccinated will be required at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre and the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.  Proof of vaccination and identification also applies to those entering indoor meeting and event spaces, at the facilities.  If children require adult accompaniment, that adult must meet vaccination requirements.The City's guidelies are In accordance with the Ministry of Health “Proof of Vaccination Guidance”.

A person is considered fully vaccinated if they have received a full series of a Covid-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada (or combination of vaccines), or one or two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine not authorized by Health Canada, followed by one dose of a Covid-19 mRNA vaccine authorized by Health Canada. The vaccination must have been administered at least 14 days prior to the date of admission.

A full list of exemptions can be found on the Provincial website, however, the following are noted:

Does not apply to children under the age of 12.
Does not apply to people entering the facilities to pick up food, make a retail purchase or use the washroom.
Does not apply to youth under the age of 18 who are entering the indoor sport and recreation facility for the purpose of participating in an organized sport.
A medical exemption in accordance with the Provincial Regulation which includes identification and a written document from a qualified person as per the Regulation.

These exemptions do not apply to those under 18 who are entering an indoor facility as a fan or to use a gym or exercise equipment.

Facility users will be asked to use the Ontario government’s vaccine verification tool once implemented to demonstrate proof of vaccination.

All guests at City Facilities are required to perform the mandatory screening prior to entering the building.
