Owen Sound City Council has approved a site plan application to permit the construction of 6 4-storey purpose built multi-unit residential buildings totalling 224-units, as well as a common amenity building, parking area, landscaping, and sidewalk system at 1144 1st Avenue West.

The development proposal comes from Hansa Financial & Property Management Inc.

The property is the location of the former BCK Foundry where propellors were cast for Canadian-built ships until its closure in 1996. The factory buildings were removed by the early 2000’s, and the 8 acre property has been vacant since.

The site is a former brownfield with fully-serviced utilities, access to public transit, and in walking distance of the amenities in the City’s River District.
