Rebound Owen Sound is hosting Owen Sound's second All Candidates Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 7:00 pm,  at the Harmony Centre, 9th Street East at 4th Avenue East. You will have a chance to meet and question candidates at the Meet and Greet beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The format for the event is very democratic: you, the voters, will put your own questions to the candidates. Who asks each question will be determined by a lottery system (numbers out of a hat). Dave Carr, an independent broadcaster at Rogers and CFOS, will be our moderator for the ACM.

This may be your last chance to decide who, among 13 candidates for Council, and two each for the mayor and deputy mayor positions, you will vote for. You have UP TO seven votes for councillors, but you are entitled to strengthen your vote by ‘plumpin’ for just a few who truly represent your political values and goals.

"We have to take municipal government seriously. It’s our closest community opportunity to fix potholes, guarantee potable water, help marginalized people who have nowhere to live and too little to eat, and address the climate crisis that is bringing fires and floods and hurricanes ever closer to Owen Sound," said Michael Craig of Rebound Owen Sound. "We have to vote for creative, energetic local leaders who will be agents of stability and change."

Voting this year is exclusively online using a pin number that most people who are eligible to vote have already received. Help Centres will be available during the voting period - from 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022. To make sure you’re on the voters’ list, and for places to vote if you don’t have a computer, check out  Owen Sound's website
