The City of Owen Sound invites the public to learn about and explore local history by joining the Celebration 2017 #MyOwenSound Scavenger Hunt – yet another way to celebrate Owen Sound 160 and Canada 150.
Starting on May 26, a clue to a local famous landmark or historic site will be released weekly on the Owen Sound Tourism, Events, and Attractions Facebook page and other City of Owen Sound social media accounts. A total of six clues in total will be released, with the final clue released on Owen Sound Day: June 30, just in time for the start of the City's 10-day 'Maawanji'iding: Festival Canadiana'.
Families and friends can get together to unravel the clues and visit each site they think is the correct one, sharing social media posts and tweets with the hashtag #ScavengerHuntOS and #MyOwenSound. All entries must include a photo or video of the location.
Anyone who correctly guesses all six locations will receive a prize!
Selected social media posts and tweets will be shared through the City's social media channels. The Scavenger Hunt and the #Hashtag Challenge (announced earlier this month) are part of the lead-up to 'Maawanji'iding: Festival Canadiana Owen Sound', June 30 to July 9. The 10-day festival includes two signature weekend events with concerts, shows, and other activities for people of all ages, including award-winning bands, the World's Largest Rubber Duck, cutting-edge technology, educational displays, and diverse cultural experiences.
The City of Owen Sound acknowledges the support of the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, Regional Tourism Organization 7 (BruceGreySimcoe), and Presenting Partner Bruce Power for this project. More detailed information regarding 'Maawanji'iding: Festival Canadiana' is available online at www.celebration2017.ca.
