The City of Owen Sound invites the community to show their appreciation for local arts and entertainment by submitting a nomination for the 9th Annual Owen Sound Cultural Awards. The nomination deadline has been extended until Friday December 22, 2017.

Nomination Forms can be filled in electronically at owensound.ca/CulturalAwards or in printed form at City Hall (temporarily located at 945 3rd Avenue East, Owen Sound), the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library, and the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.

The Cultural Awards celebrate and highlight individuals, groups and events who make admirable contributions to the area's cultural vitality. Consider making a nomination for your favourite artist, event, or organization for one of eight awards, to be presented at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre on February 11, 2018.

The Awards open for nominations include:

· Emerging Artist
· Outstanding Group
· Outstanding Individual
· Outstanding Event
· Most Promising New Event
· Cultural Catalyst
· Cultural Heritage

Each award winner receives a piece of beautiful hand-crafted art designed by a local artist. The Emerging Artist award winner also receives a cash prize of $500.

The Lifetime Achievement award recognizes individual contributions that have had a significant and lasting impact on local arts, cultural organizations, and the community as a whole. This award is appointed by the Jury. Nominations for this award are accepted through suggestions and can be emailed to [email protected], by the extended nomination deadline of December 22, 2017.
