- from the Owen Sound By-law 4th quarter report
"As per Policy CrS-BL6, the City's By-law Enforcement Officers foster compliance with City regulatory by-laws through education, awareness, promotion, advice and enforcement through warnings, fees, orders, certificate of offences, or laying an information under oath before a justice."
"Along with responding to complaints and performing inspections, By-law Enforcement is also responsible for other administration and proceedings. By-law Enforcement provides files when requested through Freedom of Information Requests, completes property inquiry requests for orders issued, prepares briefs and defence for appeals to the Property Standards Committee, assists with property clean-ups, issues parking tickets lays charges and attends court as required."
"Below is a chart that outlines which by-law the investigation is associated with. It should be noted that one call (complaint) could yield multiple investigations if during the inspection the By-law Enforcement Officer finds violations with other City by-laws."
"Quarter 4 typically sees fewer complaints. However, our By-law Enforcement Officers banked 29 hours of overtime on top of their 420 regular hours worked. The By-law Enforcement Officers are operating at full capacity."
