For over 40 years the City of Owen Sound has been recognizing volunteers from community groups and organizations who have made a significant contribution to the quality of life in the City of Owen Sound by awarding a Volunteer of the Year and Senior of the Year award. In 2018, an award for Youth Volunteer of the Year was introduced for volunteers 21 years of age and under. The intent of this award is to promote and recognize youth who have made a positive impact in the City and to encourage volunteerism in our youth community.
The City is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Senior of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Youth Volunteer of the Year. Forms can be obtained on the City’s website or hard copies are available at City Hall.
The selection committee consists of the Community Services Committee who evaluate applications, taking into consideration the guidelines laid out in the award criteria. The winners will be presented their awards prior to a Council meeting. More information on the criteria and selection process can be found on the City’s website along with the application forms for Senior of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Youth Volunteer of the Year.
