City Parks & Open Space staff will be working on Thursday, September 19th and Tuesday, September 24th to install the Noma Lights in the 700, 800, 900 and 1000 blocks of 2nd Avenue East. As a result, 2nd Avenue East will be closed the following times:
NOTE: Formerly announced as Wednesday, September 18th and Thursday, September 19th the following is an update.
2nd Avenue East will be closed the following times, Thursday, September 19th the 900 and 800 blocks of 2nd Avenue East will be closed from 6:30am to 12:00pm. 8th and 9th Streets will remain open. The 700 Block of 2nd Avenue East will be closed from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. 7th and 8th Streets will remain open.
On Tuesday, September 24th: the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue East will be closed from 6:30am – 10:00am. 10th and 11th Streets will remain open.
City staff will work as efficiently as possible to ensure these historic lights are up in a timely manner and disruption to downtown traffic and businesses is kept to a minimum.
The City of Owen Sound and Festival of Northern Lights appreciates your patience during this installation. As soon as the installation is completed, 2nd Avenue East will be re-opened.
Customers in the downtown are encouraged to utilize the complimentary 5-hour parking in long- term lots during this service interruption.
The installation of the Noma Lights is being completed earlier in the year as to not cause further disruptions during the 10th Street Bridge Closure, which is slated to begin Monday, September 23rd.
