The City of Owen Sound is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2020 Arts and Cultural Awards. Nominees include local photographers, poets and musicians; a children's theatre group, a walking tour, a trivia host and a community funder, as well as new and established organizations and events reflecting the rich diversity of Owen Sound’s cultural scene.
New for 2020, the Arts and Cultural Awards ceremony and reception will be held Sunday, March 1 at the Georgian Bay Centre for the Arts. The Arts and Cultural Awards is a free event, open to the public. The reception begins at 2:00 PM, and includes light snacks and a cash bar. The Georgian Bay Centre for the Arts is located at 938 2nd Avenue East.
The City is excited to welcome Sandcastle Theatre to perform throughout the afternoon. Richard Sitoski, Owen Sound’s Poet Laureate, will also perform during the awards presentation.
The Owen Sound Arts and Cultural Awards are presented bi-annually by the City of Owen Sound. Individual award sponsors include Kongats Architects, Zehrs, The Dock, and Owen Sound Sun Times. All award winners receive a custom-made wooden charcuterie board and knife, locally handcrafted.
The winner of the Emerging Artist award also receives a $500 cash prize.
