Important reminder that wipes clog pipes.

The City of Owen Sound has discovered, during routine sewer cleaning, greater than normal amounts of wipes and paper towel materials in the sanitary sewer system.

Continued disposal of these products into the City’s sanitary sewer system will eventually lead to sewer backups. We remind residents that to avoid sewer backups and to protect your sewer pipes, you MUST dispose of the following items in the trash, not the toilet. This includes:

Disinfecting wipes
Baby wipes
Towelletes
Paper towels
Facial tissues

Any wipe that states it is “flushable” is not, and must be disposed of in the garbage.
