owen sound city transit fullOn May 25, City Council approved transit fares to be reinstated effective June 15, 2020. The City waived transit fares on March 18 as a safety measure at the beginning of COVID-19.

Points of interest due to reinstatement of fares include:

· Monthly bus passes and single fares are available for purchase at the Transit Terminal. June bus passes will be reduced by 50 percent in cost;

· Single fares can be purchased on an as-needed basis and includes transfers from one bus to another at a cost of $2.50 for students and $3.00 for an adult or senior;

· The Transit Terminal will be accepting cash, debit and credit card payments;

· Previously purchased passes for the months of March, April and May will be honoured. March passes may be exchanged for June passes, while April and May passes can be exchanged for July and August passes at the Transit Terminal.; and

· Ridership remains limited to six people on a bus at one time.

The Transit Terminal is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

City transit service operates Monday to Friday 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM with the last bus leaving the terminal at 6:00 PM. On Saturdays, transit operates from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with the last bus leaving the terminal at 4:00 PM. There is no transit (conventional or mobility) service available on Sundays or Statutory Holidays.

The City of Owen Sound is committed to providing a transit service that meets the needs of our residents, while protecting the health and safety of our service provider, customers and community.

City Transit Services are provided at an annual net operating cost of approximately $535,000.
