Picture of Rick BeaneyFormer Owen Sound Mayor, Rick Beaney passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

“On behalf of my Council colleagues, staff and the residents of the city, I offer my condolences to his wife Kerry Anne, family members and friends,” said Mayor Ian Boddy.

Mr. Beaney was appointed as the Mayor of the City of Owen Sound in August 2001, and served until 2003. He was a City Councillor from 1993 – 2001, and in 2000 he was the first City elected County Councillor.

“Mr. Beaney was dedicated to the growth of this City and was primarily responsible for bringing NuComm to town, which provided 200 jobs for more than 20 years. He will be remembered for his passion, and commitment to serving the residents of Owen Sound,” said Mayor Ian Boddy.

Flags will be lowered to half-mast on July 9 at City Hall in his honour. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
