The City of Owen Sound's reconstruction project of 8th Street East between 5th and 7th Avenues is about to begin.
8th Street East will be closed to through traffic from 4th Avenue East to 8th Avenue East beginning April 6. Local access shall be maintained to affected properties and emergency response vehicles at all times.
Construction activities are expected to be complete in Fall 2015.

The work will generally include:
§ Reconstruction of approximately 500 m of roadway including the widening of the road platform to accommodate bike lanes.
§ Replacement of approximately 500 m of existing sanitary sewer and sanitary services to the property line.
§ Replacement of approximately 570 m of existing watermain and water services to the property line.
§ Installation of approximately 600 m of storm sewer, including catch basins and maintenance holes.
§ Installation of new traffic signals at the 7th Avenue East intersection.
§ Restoration of all disturbed areas, including sidewalk, curb, driveways and all surface elements within the boulevard.
§ Redevelopment of Ryerson park.
