As the new federal government (and we the voters) begin to grapple with electoral reform, it's important that the facts of the options considered be accurate and that the options themselves are truthfully represented. This was not the case in Dan Brown's Postmedia December 30 column, "Proportional representation aids extremist parties." That article serves as a warning of the sort if disinformation we are likely to see.

Mr Brown's first assertion is ...

LarryMiller-featureDear Editor,
Last month I wrote a letter to express my concerns about the federal government's refugee intake plan and their goal of resettling 25,000 refugees before the end of 2015. While I am pleased that the government will be extending the deadline for Syrian refugees, I must express that I am disappointed that the government had not listened to experts and facts from the beginning and that the government has now announced that it plans to bring in up to and potentially exceeding 50,000 refugees by the end of 2016.
The Government has not been clear that it has a long-term solution for the 25,000 incoming refugees

minersmapleDear Editor,
I am writing this letter in praise of a local food producer, the Miner family of Kemble. Slather butter on naan bread (available across the aisle at the Market)
Sprinkle maple curry sugar generously....

The project of this magnitude would require some three to six months to do the job in a responsible and safe way and not impose the unnecessary hardship on the new immigrants, Canadian immigration officials and the whole new infrastructure required. You finally accepted this reality. It still may be a tough task to transfer 25.000 immigrants in the middle of winter...

Owen Sound Grey County Ontario 1880Dear Editor

I am writing to thank Phil McNichol for his November 7th Sun Times article on Owen Sound's need to restructure. Mr. McNichol and others have written on this subject on several occasions over the last number of years. In reviewing the local government archives as well as media outlets, it's clear that sustainability of local and regional government services have been a public concern for some time. Unfortunately nothing has happened to address this problem because local and regional government leaders lacked either a broader vision or did not see the need for change.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the tax paying public in Owen Sound and surrounding municipalities will no longer tolerate this detached attitude by elected representative .The public would like
