Re: Owen Sound seeking public input regarding the old courthouse and jail

Surely this is an early April Fools’ Day joke.

The city (using hard-earned taxpayers’ dollars) is willing to spend upwards of $1,300,000 to demolish parts of the old jail, and to spend another $84,000 for a roof and to board windows and doors, to make the property more saleable. The property has been listed over the years for figures of between $99,000 and $200,000.

Now, basic financial math and common sense suggest spending $1,384,000 for a return of maybe $200,000 is absolutely ridiculous.
