Council Chambers

I have recently read in public that we have a councilor trying to belittle other another councilor member's opinion and actions by accusing him of going to the court of public opinion.

Is this councilor saying that the public should not know what is going on in our city.  Is this a reference that the City Council is a HIGHER court, and the public is a laughable court and their opinion holds no water. Is this a reference that the citizens should not have an opinion, and voice that opinion.

This court of public opinion spoken of is a strange creature. I have seen many councilors post their signs in and around Owen Sound during election time. Is this not the same court of public opinion. Are you not trying to sway this court of public opinion in your favour?

Is our own election not a court of public opinion...do you not receive votes on the public opinion of you?

Seems like when the court of public opinion is in one's favour – use it – when it goes against you – cover it up.. Or call for a code of conduct investigation so the court of public opinion does not go against you.
