I grew up in the 60’s so I understand demonstrating for something you believe in but there is a difference between civil disobedience and defiance of the law . The events over the weekend in Aylmer leave me mystified. I wonder if these same people and public officials would refuse to comply with other laws enacted to keep us safe ? When they left the assembly on Sunday did they refuse to 'buckle up' because 'it’s no ones' business if I choose to expose myself to the possibility of death in a car accident‘, or ignore stop signs because 'those are not meant for me', or pick up a weapon and harm someone because they were annoyed with them? Laws are put in place to protect all parties and while I understand that being asked to wear a mask and reduce assembling are inconvenient, I believe I have a civic responsibility to do my part to protect my community . I fail to understand why this is not obvious to everyone.
